GOLF= Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden

Last night after class a technician and myself went to the Beacon Lakes golf course with a couple of Houston natives for a round of golf. Now I have a set of clubs but did not bring them mainly because I don’t play golf. I have gone and hit a bucket of balls from time to time. But I have never played 18 straight holes of golf. Last year I got the bug and almost purchased a new bag for the ole clubs I have but backed out. The bug had run its course.

Well, last night of course got me thinking about it again. I believe I will acquire a new bag and start participating in company golf tournaments/scrambles in the future. I am also going to look into taking a few golf lessons at the local course back home and start off right by not practicing wrong. It is a minimal investment that will give me a sport to compete in that emphasizes beer drinking and cursing.

The course itself was in great shape. The greens were immaculate and well groomed. And the best part is that the course is lit up for night playing. We didn’t finish the 18 holes until 9:10. I didn’t actually participate; I didn’t want to slow anyone down or embarrass myself. But after watching those guys last night that have been playing for decades, I am not all that bad. They hit pretty bad shots every now and then. It gave me hope that I may have a chance. We shall see.

After golf we went out for dinner. I had a great time socializing with the others and didn’t make it back to the hotel until 11:45. Now I have to plan my activities for my last night in Houston. I am thinking Kemah or the Greyhound track; depending on the weather. Later.
