STEEL PANTHER

A fellow worker told me about Steel Panther; a wanna be rock band. I just listened to their song Community Property. Go and listen to it. Don’t play it load at work or around the kids. Give it a minute or two and at least listen to the chorus. Funny shit. It may just make your Monday start off a little better with a laugh. Later.

Friday I spent the day fishing at the Jetties down in Cameron. I have never been saltwater fishing before and it was a really good time. In the picture, the top row of fish was from the other boat while the second row of fish was from our boat. Three of us plus the guide started at 6 am, stopped fishing for about an hour during a rain storm, and then went back out till 2 pm. We caught those reds over 27 inches in the picture early on. Later when we caught even larger redfish, we had to let them go. But it was still fun catching. I caught at least four that I had to let go because they were too big. I caught two crabs; and I’ll tell you, them things swim and fight just like a fish. David caught a stingray. I lost count of the hard heads we caught. Overall I had a great time. Beats the hell out of work I promise you. Later.

Damn the government!

This is truly sad. I almost cried when I watched this video. Damn! This is cruel. How can a someone who calls themselves a mechanic do this? These vehicles have given fifteen twenty years of good service and they are KILLING them! Why not let them out to pasture? How cold hearted can they be? Later.

Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend Sales Tax Holiday

Between September 4 and 6 Louisiana will be waiving sales tax on the purchase of firearms, ammunition and hunting supplies. The weekend has been labeled “Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend Sales Tax Holiday”.

Ain’t that something? The elected officials have finally done something I agree with. I have been purchasing ammo every other week lately. A couple of boxes here, a couple of boxes there. But I will be saving my money to purchase a butt load of ammo in September. Not only to save a few pennies, but to show support for the Second Amendment Tax Free Weekend. They claim this will become an annual event. I believe every state should have one. Later.

Chevy 789

I received this in an e-mail. I have no idea if it is true...but the pictures were pretty cool so I fiqured I would post either way.

This car was built by N2A motors (No Two Alike). Cost $40,000 over cost of new Corvette C6 (MSRP $44,000). Unbelievable! The company is planning a production run of about 100 vehicles. It sits on a Corvette C6 chassis, front styled like a 57 Chevy, side like a 58, rear like a 59.

Hence the designation "789".

This weekend

I started off Friday with installing a 2 inch lift kit on my Honda Foreman four wheeler. While installing the lift kit I also fired up the bar-b-que. I went to pick up some steaks at the local meat market and stumbled across some smoked rabbit sausage. Talk about good stuff. It would be even better in gravy. Rabbit is a pretty lean critter to cooking it on the grill.

The reason I installed a lift kit was in preparation for trail riding Saturday at Willow Eddie Island ATV trail in Topsy. A few co-workers and one ex-coworker went riding for about six hours. Not a bad place. The water was unusually low and the trails were nice riding. But there were still an abundance of mud holes to loose your four wheeler in. Under normal conditions, I would not want to go due to the amount of water on the trails. I do not enjoy using my four wheeler as a submarine. I would much rather watch other fools tear up there rides.

Good friends and good beer…it is hard to ask for more. I especially liked the sand bars. There were three of them. I have not gone swimming in many, many years. It has been decades since I have been swimming in a river. I did go Saturday; twice. After getting muddy from the trails and covered in dust, a cool down from the 95 degree heat in the Calcasieu River was welcomed.

It is amazing to me how much some one will spend on a four wheeler. I put tires, a winch, a rack, and a lift kit on mine so far. But there are others that spend more on accessories than they spent on the ATV purchase price. I have a four wheeler for hunting and trail riding. Others have them to see just how much mud they can go through. To each his own I reckon. I have no desire to abuse mine like others do. And yes, that is my four wheeler in the picture. Later.
